Biography of Kira Kener

Kira Kener was born in San Jose in California, on August 11 1974, to a Norwegian father and a Vietnamese mother. She has described herself as a 'tomboy', citing her love of basketball and horror movies, and detailing a happy, 'small town' upbringing. Her own daughter was born in 1993, when she was nineteen.

Kira's unusual, exotic good-looks made her ideally suited to her chosen career as a 'feature dancer' in strip clubs around the country; and she was awarded numerous coveted awards, including ‘Miss Nude Asia’ 1997 and 1998, ‘Best Stage Performer’ and ‘Exotic Dancer Cover Girl of the Year’ (1998). Kira was headlining at prestigious strip clubs, such as Spearmint Rhino and Crazy Horse, by the age of twenty-four when fellow dancers recommended she contact the top porn production company, Vivid Entertainment.

Kira had little knowledge of the porn movie industry - and had no particular liking for porn itself, but she admired the successful porn actresses and saw making movies as a way of raising her public profile for the benefit of her first love: exotic dancing. The day after speaking to Vivid on the phone, in October 1998, Kira flew to LA and signed an exclusive, multiple-film contract. As she says: "With a lot of things I make a lot of last minute decisions".

Kira's first film as one of the celebrated 'Vivid girls' was the 1999 release, 'Nurses'; and she went on to make twelve more movies with Vivid, including 'Eye Spy: Kira Kener', 'True Blue' and 'House Sitter'.

In March 2002, Kira was included in Playboy's 'Sizzling Porn Star Pictorial' and shared the cover with fellow 'Vivid girl', Dasha. In December of the same year, prestigious softcore publication, Penthouse, named Kira 'Penthouse Pet of the Month' and presented an exclusive pictorial. Kira's success is also evidenced by her inclusion in Timothy Greenfield-Sanders's book ('XXX 30 Porn-Star Portraits') and her contribution to Vivid's 'How to Have a XXX Sex Life: The Ultimate Vivid Guide'.

Kira's exclusive contract with Vivid ended in 2005, and it transpired earlier this year that Kira is suing the company for wrongful dismissal and other breaches of professional trust. Kira has also suffered some negative publicity at the hands of certain journalists, and has been dubbed in some quarters 'the bitch of porn'. On the other hand, she has received an award for 'best partner', as voted for by colleagues, is known as 'polite and professional' by many other porn stars, and in July 2006, Kira's personal website was named as Vivid's second most popular site.

Kira's lawsuit against Vivid is still ongoing, but 'Last Girl Standing' is known to be the final Vivid feature she will make, and her previous Vivid movies are no longer being produced. She has not, however, retired from the adult movie business.
Kira is currently devoting herself to her original passion and building a name for herself as one of the top feature dancers in America. She also continues to make porn movies, and is working on plans to move into more mainstream film and develop her site (www.kirakenerlive.com) to feature live web casting.

"Beautiful girls are everywhere. Not a one of us is so special that we can't be easily replaced", she says. But Kira Kener has developed and maintained an enviable reputation in a notoriously ruthless business, and shows no signs of being replaced any time soon!
